How long is the live aboard experience?


Our standard live aboard experience is 4 days, 3 nights (or 5 days, 4 nights) with first day pick-up, and last day drop-off, at Noon. If you’d like to extend your stay and explore more islands, we can put together a custom package.




How do I get to you?


Depending on the starting location of your trip will depict your best transportation method. While some will be local, others may have to drive/fly/take a ferry to get to us and start the trip. Please note that it’s such a dynamic lifestyle that flexibility is key on your part and ours. Rest assured, we’ll stay in close contact with you as your trip nears!




Do I need a passport to travel to the Bahamas from the USA?


Yes! You should also ensure that your passport does not expire within 6 months of your travel date, or you could be denied entry.




What is included in the cost?


In addition to live aboard education, your package also includes: Breakfast, lunch, snacks, and 1 dinner aboard.* *Please note that we wish to support the economy while exposing you to local flavors, so please plan to eat on land (at your own expense) for at least 2 meals. Water, soft drinks, local beer, and 2 bottles of your choice. Snorkel gear and fins. (Extra $ for diving / renting dive gear) Logistics fees: Gas, dockage & mooring fees.




What if I don’t care about live-aboard education and just want to book a trip?


That’s totally cool. We’ll give you as much, or as little, education as you’d like about sailing and living aboard. The cost remains the same to cover our expenses. You can tailor your experience using the preference sheet made available during the booking process.




What do I need to bring with me?


Please bring: Soft, foldable luggage. (No hard-top rollers, please!) Sunscreen. Your favorite beach towel. A water bottle for measuring daily intake. Shoes with white or non-marking soles. Personal dive/snorkel gear, if preferred. Personal toiletries. (We have basic body wash & shampoo on board) Cover-ups to help with sun exposure. Check out our Life at 8 Knots gear!




I’m allergic to cats. Will Kirby cat be onboard?


Yes. Lost Cat is Kirby’s home, too, and you will be sharing the common areas with him. If you’re allergic to cats, or generally not a fan, we probably aren’t the best fit for your live aboard experience!




How much is the deposit to hold my reservation?


Deposits are due at the time of booking, and reflect 10% of the total price. Please note that deposits are non-refundable, but are transferrable if you need to reschedule. The remainder of your booking is due 45 days prior to your trip, or you stand to lose those dates!




Will you send me payment reminders and a trip itinerary?


Absolutely! Just be sure to add lifeat8knots@gmail.com to your address book to ensure you get our emails!
